If you don’t buy a ticket…

People are always taking the mickey out of me for entering, and sometimes winning competitions.

Denim

Denim.

I once entered, and won, a B*Witched competition and received a child size tee shirt featuring the snazzy logo of said band. Remember them? They were like a denim clad version of the Corrs, crossed with Wilson Phillips. Without the success.

Other amazing prizes I have won include; a box of blue alcopop, some breakfast cereal, face wipes… so as you can see, it can lead to quite the lifestyle.

My usual response to the bitter and twisted non-winners (i think there’s a word for a non-winner?) is; “how many times did you enter?” or “which photograph did you supply?”.

100% of the time, the answer is “I never win anything, I have no luck.”

Now I don’t know about you, but i think there’s a flaw in that strategy. Its like saying “I NEVER have any donuts in my fridge.” (i also hear people saying that all the time.)…. but if you ask that person, I bet they never buy any donuts.

So here I am entering another competition. Only this time I thought I’d share, as I’d like you to have a fridge full of donuts.

All you have to do is submit one landscape photo to to this VELUX competition. Like this one that I submitted… isn’t it pretty?

Check out some of the other entries here. You have until 28 February to get your shot sent in

Entries will be in with a chance of being part of a short film, Lovers of light, and one lucky winner will receive a once in a lifetime trip for four people to the Arctic Circle courtesy of VELUX IE

They’ll probably have all the donuts you can eat at the hotel.

So i’ll leave you with the philosophical words of B*Witched…. “Some people say I look like me dad. What? Are you serious? Ah oh, hey hey Ah oh, ah oh”

We’re trying our best to get out on weekend day trips lately with BelfastBaby. Because if you don’t, before you know it the day is gone and all you’ve done is change nappies and clean up vommit.

We went to Donagahadee. Turns out there’s F*#k all squared to do there. Apart from look at a lighthouse. So here is a picture of said lighthouse.

The other noteable event from the day is that BelfastBaby managed to puke (against gravity and all laws of physics) straight in to her eyes.

i'm getting worried about my developing fetish for taking photos of lighthouses

I need a better name for this feature don’t I? Suggestions in the comment box please.

Anyway, here’s this week’s image. We took a wee day trip down to the mournes and Warrenpoint with BelfastBaby. She was amazingly content just sitting in her car seat all day and smiling at strangers in cafes. We got a good 9 hours out of her before she got bored and started screaming… a mile from home.

It pay’s to just get out of the house sometimes, even when its tempting to stay at home and do the same old same old. So here’s a pic of a big stripy lighthouse. Click here to  see more shots from the trip.

This week’s image probably sums up my need to get out of the house a little more. I got a new camera a few weeks ago, and in 3 weeks i’ve managed to get it out of the house once.

So instead i’ve been coming up with increasingly desperate scenarios at home:

Let’s Go for a Trip…

Yes, it’s another Christmas image… but it IS like totally Christmas time. Those of you who know me will be confused due to my general dislike of… Christmas.

Anyway, the significance is we decided to start our own wee tradition, and every year we will go shopping with little lady for a Christmas decoration. This was bought at the Ulster Museum when we went to see the Street Art exhibition (go see it). Maybe take her back there every year as part of the tradition…

If you’re that way inclined, you can check out the rest of my photos here
