The Tuesday Track Wk33

We were lucky enough to go and see Glen Hansard and his awesome band this weekend in Belfast. An incredible talent who takes songwriting and performing to a whole new level. His songs genuinely have the power to make you laugh and cry…. with so many of the lyrics taking on a really personal dimension as you listen.

During the gig, my wife and I, started to think about different groups of friends who are having an incredibly tough time at the minute. This song is for them…

The Tuesday Track Wk30

After a month long sabbatical to Australia (somebody has to do it), i’m back with a new Tuesday Track.

So what better place to choose for inspiration than Perth, Western Australia?. There was a long time when Perth was seen as a bit of a cultural wasteland, but things are getting a lot better. Here’s some proof from Tame Impala:

On Saturday night somone told me “I really like your blog, but that Tuesday Track thing is shite… I hate it. It’s totally shite.” (you know who you are and i value your constructive feedback).

But i know there are scores of readers who are just hanging in there for the latest Tuesday Track. Today it’s Wednesday… i bet you were all distraught yesterday to see there was no update?

Anyway, the best stuff at the Olympics is always in the velodrome. This track was written by the Chems for the velodrome.  It’s cleverly titled “Velodrome”. Kraftwerk and Daft Punk all over it…

The Tuesday Track Wk26

My highlight of the batshit crazy Olympics Opening Ceremony was hearing a David Holmes track played almost entirely. It was great considering so many other tracks had been chopped up and played in snippets.

Even better to hear some proper Northern Irish talent recognised (we have so much of it). If you haven’t listed to his album The Holy Pictures, then do yourself a favour and grab a copy.
